• Provide a high level of financial services to members.
• Offer competitive financial services to members.
• Responsible advice to affiliates to ensure their savings and investments.
• Perform with integrity in accordance with the Cooperative Societies Law and its regulations.
• Respond to the needs of the community within the framework of the cooperative structure.

Unions operate on a very different platform than banks and that is why more and more Jamaicans are heading towards becoming “members”.

ALL the different unions in Jamaica are part of a movement that brings them under ONE umbrella. Here’s an overview of said move…

The Jamaican Credit Union Movement began with Father John P. Sullivan, who pioneered the creation of Jamaica’s first Credit Union: Sodality Co-operative Credit Union Ltd.

Today the Movement has grown to 38 unions located across the island, all represented by the umbrella brand, Credit Unions of Jamaica (CUJ), Your Path to Financial Freedom!

Well, with all the introductory framework completed, let me provide you with a (not too long) list of some of the unions operating in Jamaica.

About Them – In July 1959, the Union began preliminary operations, and in October of that same year, the Jamaica Cooperative Teachers Association CU Limited (JTS) was registered as a Union under the Cooperative Societies Act.

2. First Heritage Co-operative CU Ltd

Look no further than this is one of the largest unions in Jamaica with its recent merger of Church’s and GSB Unions.
