Xbox Live Standalone Test Game – Ninja on the Sneak

Ninja Sneaking is WINGLAY’s newest indie game now available on Xbox Live. I have played and written about another WINGLAY game called “Sky Ninja War” which I really enjoyed. Ninja Sneaking’s gameplay is all about stealth and stealth, which is pretty much the opposite of Sky Ninja War and, to be honest, a lot less fun.

The protagonist of this visually beautiful indie game is a red-haired ninja girl. Not much is known about her or her history, other than that she must infiltrate a rival Shogun’s compound. Indie games are generally small micro video games. they don’t have long play times or stories. In fact, they are somewhat superficial gaming experiences. For example, Ninja Sneaking only lasts fifteen minutes before the trial ends via XBL (Xbox Live).

Some of the core elements of the game revolve around your ability to sneak past guards, whether you’re awake or napping. Some guards have flashlights and point them in all directions. If the red-haired ninja girl is caught, it’s game over. The difficulty is quite high. You literally can’t make any mistakes or you’ll have to start over. To avoid getting caught as a good ninja you must use your environment. You can crawl under the buildings. You can also climb roofs.

Graphically, WINGLAY makes indie games look great and Ninja Sneaking is no exception. This game has a unique and lovely visual presentation which I loved. The music is pretty decent and creates a good atmosphere. The sound effects became annoying at times with the same repetitive growling and groaning.

The controls are pretty solid and simple. You don’t really need many buttons. You just jump or grab almost everything. You use the left stick on the Xbox 360 controller to move. You can also perform double jumps if necessary. As far as replay value goes, this game lacks it. I guess you can always try to get faster clear time after completing the levels. The latter is good for competitive gamers.

Some other aspects that stood out to me regarding Ninja Sneak is the funny scene that happens when you get caught. The developers really have a sense of humor. Ninja Sneak is rough around the edges, but it was quite addictive. It can be frustrating to get caught up and have to start over. What I liked the most is the presentation and artistic design. If you like ninjas and indie video games, you might want to try Ninja Sneaking.
