Endicia Software Review

Endicia is an online postage printing software system that is becoming increasingly popular. In this article I will review the various pricing programs available, the pros and cons of using the software.

Endicia is based in Palo Alto, CA and prints more than $10 billion in postage annually. Founded in 1982 by Harry Whitehouse, Amine KhechfĂ© and Scott Montgomery, through a company called PSI. PSI worked to help the USPS implement programs that would reduce the costs of some of the post office’s tasks. Through many years of innovation with USPS and a rebrand as Endicia, Endicia’s Internet postage system grew. Ultimately, Newell Rubbermaid purchased Endicia in 2007, helping to expand the company globally. In 2010 Endicia was renamed Dymo Endicia and in 2013 it was renamed Endicia again. Below I have listed the pricing programs that Endicia has available.

Endicia Price Schedules

Endicia Standard $9.95 per month

With the Endicia Standard plan, you’ll have access to USPS-compliant labels, a software postage log, web-based reporting, Endicia package insurance, third-party insurance, USPS insured mail, email shipping notifications , USPS package pickup and payment for optional services.

Advantages of using Endicia for eRetailers

1) Scalable to the size of your company. You can find a program that fits your company size and budget.

2) Immediately after downloading the software, you will have access to the trade base price for all your domestic and international shipments.

3) Batch printing capabilities for all mail types to reduce your fulfillment time.

4) The possibility of taking out insurance for your packages through Endicia or third parties.

5) The ability to send shipping notifications via email automatically.

6) The ability to generate consolidator labels that give you access to USPS International Priority Air Mail, reducing your costs by up to 50%.

Disadvantages of using Endicia for eRetailers

1) There is no post listing feature for eBay, Amazon and various online sales channels.

2) The software is downloaded to your desktop and there is no network version.

In conclusion, if you are fulfilling orders and printing address labels, I highly recommend you use Endicia. Endicia corporately has a very close working relationship with the USPS and is constantly improving services in conjunction with the USPS. Enidicia seamlessly integrates with many order management systems like Shipstation and Shipworks to overcome the lack of a return shipping feature. Plus, having the ability to use Endicia Professional to use the USPS International Priority Airmail program and save up to 50% on your international shipping could pay the monthly fee on your first shipping day of the month.
