5 easy ways to meditate

There are many different ways to meditate. Each one is a different method with basically the same end result. Take a look at these different meditation methods to see which one works best for you.

walking meditation

This is one of the easiest ways to meditate, although you’re obviously not as cut off from the rest of the world as you need to be aware of your surroundings. With a walking meditation you pay attention to your feelings and your surroundings. Allow yourself about 20 minutes and, if possible, choose a location away from traffic. A local park is good. Then take a gentle walk and enjoy the area. Notice the smells and sounds and pay attention to what you see.

breathing meditation

In its simplest form, you find a quiet place where you won’t be disturbed and begin to breathe deeper than you normally would. Inhale a long, slow, deep breath. If possible, hold for a second or two before releasing, again slowly. Repeat this again, at least 5 times and ideally more. You will find that this is a quick way to achieve a more relaxed state in your body.

binaural beats meditation

This is the “modern” way of meditating and it is the method I personally use regularly. You can buy this type of meditation and then play it on your CD or MP3 player. You need to find a place where you won’t be disturbed for the duration of the track, which is usually 30-60 minutes. The track will play background noise, usually rain or music, as well as binaural beats. These rhythms play two slightly different tones, one in each ear. Your brain then tries to work out the slight difference between the tones, and it is this that brings about a meditative state with almost no effort on your part. This type of meditation is very powerful, don’t be fooled by its simplicity!

cosmic meditation

Very similar to binaural beats meditation, this is generally related to Cosmic Ordering, which is a structured form of Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich ideas. A cosmic meditation usually takes the form of a guided meditation that will relax you and then allow you to send your current wish list or goals out into the cosmos.

Guided Meditation

There are many of these available on the internet. They usually last between 20 and 60 minutes. Usually, a guided meditation will start with a relaxation procedure so that you are relaxed and receptive to the main part of the meditation. You will then move on to the actual goal of the meditation, whether it be deep relaxation, healing your body, contact with your higher self, or whatever other goal you have chosen. You can choose a single guided meditation, or they are often sold in packages of several guided meditations.

Whichever form of meditation you decide to use, you will find that it helps you relax and relieve the stress and tensions that seem to accompany our modern lifestyles.
