All singing in chorus

Hope, eternally welling up, brought another blow to fallen man in the form of a second amalgamation of nations after the failed “League,” ineptly named, as its future would prove, the “United Nations.”

At first, the term was applied to those Allied nations aligned against Germany and Japan in 1941-42. But soon after the end of the war (1945), more than fifty nations joined the new idea and a world order of peace and cooperation emerged once more.

The UN has had a proven existence in terms of success. Decisions have been made, documents have been signed. But lacking the ultimate enforcement force, it has been largely ineffective in its pursuit of peace and a world of full cooperation. Men won’t have it. Not yet.

Need I list the names, or even the number, of wars, conflicts and disputes that have come and gone since the “United Nations” came into existence? On the other hand, is it hard to imagine what would happen if those united nations had a single leader backed by the largest army ever seen on earth? And?

This is where the “reset” must be directed, if Bible prophecy is to be fulfilled. In my country, several steps have been taken lately towards that restart.

After the two World Wars and Korea, came a long period known as the Cold War. There were no shots, but many threatened. Reagan is credited by some with ending this bleak period, followed by the first President Bush.

Bush the First and Gorbachev the Last.

It seemed that things were calming down, when it was necessary to deal with Iraq under Hussein. The first challenge to Bush’s famous New World Order proclamations. But the war turned out to be a catalyst for moving forward with the dream.

bush said,

A hundred generations have sought this elusive path to peace, with thousands of wars unleashed throughout human endeavor. Today that new world struggles to be born, a world quite different from the one we have known.

Well said, Mr. Bush. He would later add,

Now we can see a the new World coming out of sight. A world in which there is the very real prospect of a new world order.

Seriously, Mr. President? Has the world changed so much?

Perhaps he got some of his thinking from world leader Mikhail Gorbachev of Russia. “Gorby” was making the speaking rounds, hailed as a new peacemaker since he had helped bring down communism in his USSR.

In a talk at the UN in the first year of the Bush presidency, he shared his new ideas. His vision of the world, and the world was listening, was, for example, to give the United Nations a larger role in world affairs. He believed that the Soviets should be allowed more participation in international organizations.

These and other components for world peace made people look at Gorbachev as another Woodrow Wilson, FDR and Churchill all rolled into one.

Above all, he said, we need tolerance. I quote:

Tolerance is the alpha and omega of a new world order.

My, my, they all sing the same song. But when they try to sing together, the music is still a little – a lot – jarring.

There were skeptics. time magazine (July 1990) opined that perhaps the Russians were trying to lure innocent nations into their net with all this talk of peace, tolerance and world order. The problem was that the West did not respond, at least not immediately, to the former Soviet leader.

Later in the year came Bush’s New World Order speech before Congress, and soon he was sharing the spotlight with Gorbachev, even surpassing him in the opinion of many. now Hey it was Woody and FDR and probably a few others in the sheep minds of the citizens of Earth.

There will come a day when a man like Gorbachev or Bush will rise up in a moment of crisis to speak similar words to the world, and the world will not only listen, but follow.

A choir singing the same tune.

Bill Clinton not only embraced the idea of the ‘new world order’, but dramatically expanded the concept beyond Bush’s formulation…he says that Wikipedia piece.

After eight years of Clinton came the son of Bush, who also had business in Iraq, but not as popular. He was responding to intelligence he had received about weapons of mass destruction housed by the Iraqi dictator. He seems to have taken the shine off all the NWO push, but the nations goal didn’t die with Bush.

Henry Kissinger could be heard repeating the dream in 1994.

The New World Order cannot happen without the participation of the United States, since we are the most important component. Yes there will be a New World Orderand it will force the United States to change its perceptions.

Fast forward fifteen years. Kissinger keeps repeating the mantra when he advises the incoming President Obama on the current Israeli crisis:

It’s time to reassess American foreign policy… I think [Obama’s] The task will be to develop an overall strategy for the United States in this period, when a ‘new world order’ can really be created. It is a great opportunity. It is not a crisis of this type.

Tony Blair, former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, used the same term in speeches in 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003. “There is a new world orderlike it or not… the call was for a new world order. But a new order supposes a new consensus. It presupposes a shared agenda and a global partnership to do it.”

Surprisingly to a non-Muslim mindset is ex-Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s call, with a bad memory, for such an order. One shudders to think of the consequences to the world if he were ever to become head of such a government:

He is said to have suggested that it was time to propose new ideologies for running the world Iran’s stated objective is to establish a new world order based on world peace, global collective security, reciprocity and justice.

Of course, when communists and Islamists talk about peace and justice, they mean peace and justice in their rules, on their terms. Otherwise, it’s out of their heads. How many times will foolish men be sucked into these impossible dreams by men of proven tyrannical and murderous habits?

Once too many times, sure.

Is there still the desire for a world dominated by one ideology, one set of laws, even one man? It is reported that Mr. Obama left a note on the Resolute Desk in the Oval Office for Mr. Trump. He said, in part, that

“It is up to us, through action and example, to uphold the international order that has expanded steadily since the end of the Cold War, and on which our very wealth and security depend.”

I’m not sure Mr. Trump was exactly in line with that advice.

But it will come. do not fear. Will come.
