Top 4 reasons the Geotrax rail system is great for kids

Although Geotrax toys are not the most popular among children’s toys, parents and children who have introduced them agree that they are an excellent toy for boys and girls of different ages. This little line of Fisher Price toys has spawned fan sites, numerous YouTube videos, and a fanatical following among Geotrax insiders. This is why:

Geotrax characters are very well developed

Each train set in the toy line consists of the train and its operator, and both characters in each set are unique and memorable. Aero and Eric are the newcomers to town and speed through GeoTown; Doc and Bunsen are the science team that operates GeoTown from Grand Central Station.

All the characters are highlighted in the DVD episodes that are included with most new train set purchases, strengthening the characters’ identities in your children’s minds. Each team is also known by a slang name, for example the lovable Woohoo and Opie are known as the “Most Confused” team.

Toy sets encourage multiple play styles

Generally speaking, most toys are best suited to only one style of play. However, with Geotrax, multiple styles are supported. For young builders, the modular rail system will have them exploring configurations for hours; For vehicle lovers, operating the remote controls or pushing your trains over the tracks will keep them busy; For imaginative types, the characters (my son calls them his little “friends”), moving parts, and gameplay encourage interaction.

The modular track system is well designed

Surprisingly, everything fits into GeoTown, no matter what setting the piece originated from. After setting up a meandering track on multiple levels, you will find a connecting track piece that is the perfect length to join the pieces together. The entire system was designed so that outfits could be easily mixed and matched in multiple layouts.

Every piece in the toy line is made with quality in mind.

The toy sets are of high quality. The pieces fit together with a resounding “pop” and stay together until you want them to come apart. The tracks are thick and durable, and can withstand heavy use, frequent drops, and rough play.

Children and adults of all ages know Geotrax train sets every day. Aside from the cost and space required for a full track layout, there’s very little reason not to love what Fisher Price has done with this well-designed line of toys.
