The color and creativity of the Coromandel

Thames was founded as a pioneer city, with Kauri’s major gold and logging industries supporting the community. This colorful history can be seen as you walk through the colorful streets that are lined with many heritage buildings, pubs, and museums. While in town, be sure to check out the Historical Museum, the War Memorial, and Rocky’s Goldmine Trail. In fact, there is so much to do here that you may never want to leave.

Waihi, known as the “heart of gold” of New Zealand, is one of the most famous gold mining cities in the country.
