When looking for student accommodation in Cambridge, you’ll want to consider what’s important to you. For example, if you’re planning on attending classes at The University of Cambridge, you’ll want to ensure that your student housing in Cambridge is within the university’s ‘precincts’. This is an area that covers a three-mile radius around Great St Mary’s Church, and it is where most of the lecturers and university resources are located.

In addition to individual living spaces, student accommodation often provides dedicated areas for collaboration and studying. These are typically located within the university campus and offer a range of room options, such as single or shared rooms, communal bathrooms, and shared kitchen facilities. On-campus accommodation provides students with easy access to academic buildings, libraries, and extracurricular activities.

You’ll normally be told where you will be living, how much it will cost (per term, per month or per week), and when you can move in. You’ll also be shown around your accommodation by the Porters and informed of how to access any problems that may arise. You should also be made aware of any restrictions that apply to your residence, such as noise regulations. On arrival, you will normally go to your College’s Porters’ Lodge to collect your room keys.
