Fasted cardio or fed cardio?

FASTING CARDIO VS FED STATE CARDIO

Which is the best?

Which one will help you SHRED?

Well, the answer is not so black and white.

In fact, it is best explained in a study by Alan Aragon and Brad Schoenfeld.

“It has long been thought that performing aerobic exercise after an overnight fast accelerates body fat loss. The purpose of this study was to investigate changes in fat mass and fat-free mass after four weeks of volume-intensive aerobic exercise. equivalent fasting versus fed in young women adhering to a hypocaloric/calorie deficit diet.

The findings indicate that changes in body composition associated with aerobic exercise in conjunction with a calorie deficit are similar regardless of whether or not an individual fasts before training. Therefore, those looking to lose body fat can choose to train before or after eating depending on their preference.”

Hmm…

So what is the starting point?

Do what you prefer.

Yes, personal preference.

Personally, I find that my performance is terrible without eating, so I choose to perform any activity in a fed state.

That’s what works for me, so I’m sticking with it.

My energy is higher and I am able to burn more calories as a result.

That’s why you need to find what works for you.

Because we are all different.

We all have different likes and dislikes.

As such, it’s natural to have different preferences when it comes to choosing what, if anything, to eat before training.

THE GOOD NEWS

It’s just that science is on your side on this one, so make sure your routine works for you and be done with it.

There’s no need to prolong the process any longer: cardio is painful enough to worry about whether or not you should eat before working on the stairs.

Just kidding, I don’t do stair climbers, but YOU might love it, so if that’s your cardio of choice, then step on the good sir/ma’am!

Remember…

DO NOT confuse correlation with causation.

You won’t lose weight simply by performing or including cardio in your routine; you’ll lose that weight because over the course of a day/week/month you’re eating fewer calories than you’re burning, and the cardio we’re doing might just be helping with this equation.

There is no need to overcomplicate the process of losing weight.

But if there is a certain method or approach that helps you with energy balance (calories in versus calories out), then you should follow it.

Because energy balance is KING, at the end of the day.

(Literally)

Diet compliance is the key to long-term success.

SO FIND OUT WHAT WORKS BEST FOR YOU WHILE YOU SERVE YOUR KING.
