If you are traveling to the Texas coastal area, you should head to Houston. Not only is it an iconic city in the Lone Star State, there are also a number of things to do near Houston that appeal to everyone, especially if you’re traveling with your kids.

If you are in the Houston area and have the child with you, you should take advantage of these incredible offers for families:

1. Houston Symphony: The Houston Symphony offers the Free Neighborhood Series, a collection of concerts offered during the summer at numerous venues throughout the city. This even includes a concert to commemorate the 4th of July. This means that no matter where you are, you can enjoy some serious culture with one of the best symphonies in the country. If your kids are interested in seeing the musician’s instruments up close, a “petting zoo for instruments” starts about an hour before each concert.

Summer story tours in Rienzi: If your children like reading, books and active interaction with stories, the Museum of Fine Arts organizes summer story tours in Rienzi (located as part of the museum). Space Center Houston is a leading space science and learning center that your kids will love. It serves as one of Houston’s top attractions (best for international visitors), the official Visitor Center of NASA’s Johnson Space Center, and the Houston Space Center is the only Smithsonian affiliate in the greater Houston area. It can be a bit pricey, so if you’ve visited the low-cost or free attractions throughout the city, it’s one of the best places to invest. Just keep in mind that if your kids are STEM oriented, this is the place to be!
